This way, everyone can enjoy a relaxing moment in peace and safety.

In the Green Heart

Green walk along the ditch, Lyon path behind the city center

Behind the Stadshart lies a quiet green area (Lyonpad) in the Palenstein district. There is an enclosed dog run here, but the walk along the ditch is highly recommended and takes you all the way to the Segwaert district, or even on to the Noord Aa.

A day at the Balij and swimming

In the De Balij Forest Reserve (1,000 ha) – also known as the Balijbos – dogs are allowed off-leash in many areas. This is indicated by signs on site. Together with the Bieslandse Bos (300 ha), the Balijbos forms a beautiful stretch of nature between Zoetermeer, Delft, Pijnacker, and Nootdorp. The areas are separated by a railway line and two roads, but if you don't mind keeping your dog on a leash for a short while, both forests can easily be combined into one very long (day) hike. You will also pass a large (swimming) lake with several dog beaches. Walking routes also start from here that can take you straight through nature reserves all the way to the market in Delft (the Balij Route)! The Balijbos is also easily accessible for wheelchair users.

Romping through the forest and dog beach Westerpark

Westerpark is a beautiful, somewhat older park, with plenty of water and winding walking paths through the trees. Except during the breeding season from March 15 to July 1, dogs are allowed to run loose everywhere.
